Aleksandar Ugljevarevic is an independent attorney-at-law and legal consultant of LMS Digital Consulting with over 11 years of experience in providing legal and business advice in Serbia and abroad.
He has graduated at the Law Faculty at the University of Belgrade and obtained LL.M. in the International Business Law at the Central European University in Budapest.
Aleksandar started his career with the reputable international law firm in Belgrade, working on leading finance projects (Usce Tower and mall). He also gained experience in one of the Big Four consultancy companies in Serbia, where he approached problems from different angles (legal, advisory, tax and business). Besides experience in Serbia, he worked in the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg and on the World Bank project on the harmonization with the EU law. Working in the EU enabled him to practically apply and interpret expanding EU regulation.
In the last couple of years Aleksandar if focused on advising both big companies and startups in relation to the new technologies – GDPR, blockchain, digital media and marketing, fintech. Versatile consulting and legal background mixed with a good understanding of the new technologies equal to invaluable benefit to his clients. He is one of the pioneers in Serbia in advising local, EU and U.S. companies on the road to the GDPR compliance (Direct Media, Infostud Group, ServicePro just to name few). A mixture of understanding the law, tech and EU legislation enables him to profoundly tackle privacy & security issues in any industry.
Aleksandar has broad experience in transferring his knowledge to others (especially non-legal audience). He is the president of the Legal & Policy Committee IAB Serbia. He also gives lectures on legal and GDPR issues at DIMAQ, AcademiAA, Data Science Conference etc.
